Trading standards want to visit.  Should I let them?

Trading standards are part of the Local Authority and are amongst the large number of organisations that have the remit to inspect General Practice. They have a duty to enforce the provisions of the Weights and Measures Act 1985 and all subordinate legislation. Since 1st January 2003, when the full force of the Non-Automatic Weighing Instruments Regulations 2003 came into effect, any weighing scale that is used for weighing patients for medical diagnosis, monitoring or treatment is now caught under the control of the statutory weights and measures legislation.
